Praise and appreciation at KCA AGM
The volunteers and supporters of Kilcullen's tidy towns effort were praised and thanked at Monday night's AGM of Kilcullen Community Action, writes Brian Byrne.
Chairman Niall McDonnell outlined a wide breadth of activities carried out both by the KCA and by other organisations in Kilcullen, ranging from the provision of the annual Christmas Lights, through management of the Community Playground, to celebrations of significant anniversaries by local estates.
He particularly noted appreciation for the FAS and TUS workers who have been maintaining green areas in the town as part of their activities, and the volunteers who have made new wooden planters for the footpath decorations in the Summer Flowers programme.
The organisers and helpers for various highlight times of the year were thanked, in particular Ray Kelly along with Evelyn O'Sullivan's drama children and the Kilcullen Gospel Choir for their contributions to the Christmas Tree lights celebration.
Appreciation was also expressed to sports and other clubs in the town for their 'brilliant efforts' during the year in their own spheres, all of which are key parts of what makes up the Kilcullen that all are proud to live in. The arrival of six new businesses to the town during the year was particularly welcomed.
Other highlight achievements of the year included the opening of the Kilcullen Community Childcare centre, the completion of work on Scoil Bhride and CPC, drama and musical events in the Town Hall, and heritage events such as the WW1 and other commemorations and 'memories' occasions organised by Mary Orford and Julie O'Donoghue.
The Financial Report presented by Treasurer Kieran Forde was adopted. There was no change to the Officers of KCA at the meeting.
