Over for Punchestown
Punchestown is one of the touchstone events for bringing people with Kilcullen connections home, writes Brian Byrne.
One of those who did was Ray Ffrench, from Newbury in Berkshire, England. He's the grandson of the late John Ffrench of Kilcullen, and he's pictured here (centre) with his friend Mark Jenkins, celebrating with local friends Noel and Frances Clare, Stephen Clare, and Ray Kelly.
A historical note, Ray's grandfather John played the part of one of the seconds to the fighters in the re-enacting pageant of the Donnelly-Cooper fight in the early 1950s.
