Creative Bootcamp in July
It's not typical of summer camps that participants learn to make hats under the eye of a qualified milliner, but that's a feature of one planned for Kilcullen between 13-17 July, writes Brian Byrne.
The Creative Summer Bootcamp will be held in the Community Centre and is aimed at students aged between 12-16 years of age. In addition to the hat-making, there's music and sport.
It's being organised by Ana Kehone, who is based in Carlow. She set up her AK Designs millinery business there after spending eight years as a mathematics and physical education teacher.
She has honed her millinery skills with Galway-based expert Mart T Burke, and the 2015 Milliner of the Year Laura Kinsella.
Those at the Camp will be shown how to use their own creative style to design fashionable accessories. For those with a music bent, there will be composing, listening and performing.
There will also be physical activities and sports, including lacrosse and ultimate frisbee, as well as yoga and pilates.
