Community forum mooted
The possibility of a regular community chat and forum in the Town Hall has been raised by Bernard Berney, following the success of his recent series of discussions on life and spirituality in the Parish Centre, writes Brian Byrne.
The matters discussed during that informal series included such varied subjects as death and funerals, alcoholism and other addictions, the news media, life, love and hope.
"We spoke about Stephen Fry, Pope Francis, Jesus and God," Bernard reported in the current issue of the Bridge. "It was a small step in nurturing a sense of community, in encouraging people in their search for the truth ... and many of those who attended were anxious that it should continue in some form."
Bernard is open to any ideas about developing the concept, or about themes which could be considered for a wider discussion in an informal atmosphere.
As someone might say, the ball is now in our court ...
