Badminton League update
A couple of DDL matches to cover this week and we start with Caroline's Division 3 mix team who hosted Old School on 27 January, writes Enda O'Neill, PRO of Kilcullen Badminton Club.
Caroline and the team desperately needed a win and they didn’t disappoint, trashing Old School 6-0. Caroline's team now had the big task of playing second place Ailsbury on 3 February, again at home in the complex. A draw would keep them in third place in the table a win would put them above Ailsubry. Again the Division 3 mixed team stepped up to the plate and again came away with a 6-0 victory, this brilliant win puts them above Ailsbury and into second place in the table. Well done to Caroline, Annette, Niall and Martin who are on track for a quarter final outting if they can continue their current form.
Captain Katherine's Mix 7 Division 10 team’s had two DDL outings this week and the first one we cover is their away match to South Dublin. The away venue didn’t phase KBC’s rookie team! Kath, Margaret, David and young gun Ben came away with an impressive 6-0 win. Katherine's team were again out on Friday 6 February and this time they were at home to Raheny. In a one-sided match the Mix 7 team came away with a 5-1 win maintaining their one hundred percent record in the league — well done to the team on a great season so far.
Murt's Division 3 Mens team hosted Aer Lingus in this DDL clash. Murt and his team played brilliantly and beat a good Aer Lingus team 3-1. It's now Aer Lingus that have to “Look up” (couldn’t resist!!) at Kilcullen's men who are sitting nicely on top of the Division 3 table. Well done to Murt, David J, Darren and Dave Mc.
Finally good luck to Sarah and the Grade 4 Mix team and Dave Mc and his Grade 2 Mix team who both play in the SW League Finals that will be contested in Baltinglass on Monday night with any luck KBC will be bringing two more titles back to the club.
