Badminton update
So it's now time to leave the memories of a relaxing and enjoyable Christmas behind us and talk badminton, writes Enda O'Neill, PRO of Kilcullen Badminton Club.
Ladies 1 take the premier spot today with their Dublin District Cup Division 3 QF match away to PSLC of Portmarnock. This Quarter Final affair proved to be a tight and hard fought match. Lynsey and Norrie out first and lost their game 21-14 and 21-18. In the second game Sinead and Annette won an exciting and nail-biting 3-setter, pulling it out of the bag in the final set beat their counterparts 24-22.
Ladies 3 of Norrie and Annette were out next and comfortably won in 2 sets, Sinead and Lynsey also won their game in two sets 21-19 and 21-18, winning the match 3-1 and putting the KBC Ladies into the semi finals. Well done to captain Sinead, Lynsey, Norrie and Annette and good luck in the semis.
Murt’s Division 3 Mens 1 team also played in an away fixture Old School where a 4-0 win would take them joint top of the table with An Caislean Nua. The men obliged, taking Old School apart in a comprehensive 4-0 victory. Well done to Murt, Dave Mc, Dave Jackson and sub Gareth Hogan on a job well done.
Also congratulations to Oliver and his mix team who also beat Danum in the cup to progress into the next round of their cup.
Finally well done to Sarah Walshe and John Mullen who won the Division 6 Mixed Louth Open and Annette Maher and Sinead Kelly who also won the Division 2 Ladies Louth Open.
