The last BAG of 2014
Next Monday, Dec 8th, BAG brings the curtain down on 2014's gigs, and what a way to see out the year, writes Roy Thompson of the Ballymore Acoustic Gigs.
Headlining, on his first solo tour, is Casey Black from Nashville, Tennessee. He's a young singer/songwriter with an already finely honed writing skill; he's the real deal. Support on the night is from John Blek from Cork. Frontman with John Blek and The Rats. John has just released his debut solo record, 'Cutting Room Floor'. It has a smooth, contemporary Americana feel, and is being critically well received.
Back to Casey Black — I first saw him opening for Mick Flannery in Kilkenny's Set Theatre, when Mick was touring in support of his current release 'By The Rule'. Casey and Mick on the one bill, is a night to remember, so I'm delighted to announce that the pairing will be repeated on Monday in Mick Murphy's, Ballymore Eustace; Mick will play a full opening set, and then join Casey later for a few numbers to close out the show.
This is quite a coup, and I'm indebted to Mick and his management — Lorcan Ennis at Verge Management — for making this happen.
Doors open at 8:30pm, but come early as it'll fill up very quickly. Admission to this fantastic show is just €12 at the door. Showtime is 9pm sharp.
