Kilcullen Badminton update

Today we cover KBC’s Division 8 Ladies 3 team captained by Denise who played their first two DDL matches on Friday 21 and Monday 24 November, writes Brian Enda O'Neill, PRO of Kilcullen Badminton Club. Their first match which was played at home to Baldoyle proved to be a though affair and the girls lost 3-1, the ladies dusted themselves off for their second match which was played away to Vikings. The ladies bounced back with a great 4-0 win and putting themselves back on track in the league. Well done to Denise, Emer, Meave and Nora.

Monday 24 November also saw Dave’s Division 2 Mixed 1 away to Old School and in a tough match with 4 of the games going to three setters Daves team came away on the wrong side of a 5-1 defeat. Hard luck to Dave and his team.

Wednesday night Division 5 Mens 2 had their first outing to Raheny in the Dublin District Cup. The lads captained by John drew 2-2 on matches but agonisingly lost the match by one set. It’s a heartbreaking way to go out of the cup but the lads can take heart in the way the played hard luck to John, Vincent, Enda and Sean.

Sinead's Division 3 Ladies 1 started their league campaign away to PSLC on Thursday night and got off to a great start with an impressive 3-1 win. This win over one of the favourites in the group puts the ladies on top of the Division 3 table, well done to captain Sinead and the rest of her team.

Friday 28 of November saw the Division 3 Mens 1 captained by Murt at home to An Caislain Nua. The lads also came out of the tracks running and beat the visiting team 4-0 in what was a very competitive and fast match. All credit goes to Murt, Dave, Darren and Dave Jackson who managed to make a very good Caislain Nua team look very ordinary on the night.

Finally Kilcullen Badminton Club have been shortlisted for the Badminton Union Ireland club of the year and to win this award would be a great acheivement for the club and would make us one of the only teams outside Dublin to win this event. We do however need YOUR votes to help us get there so please email membership@badmintonireland.com and put Kilcullen Club of the year in the subject line. We need as many votes as we can get so PLEASE spread the word and get your friends and family to vote too.
