Fun at the switch-on

Even though the weather meant that the event had to be taken indoors to the Heritage Centre, everybody who has experienced the annual switching on of the Christmas lights said it was the best ever, writes Brian Byrne.

The entertainment from Drama Dynamics and the Kilcullen Gospel choir was matched only by — in the eyes of the many little people there anyhow — the appearance of Santa, with small goodies for them all.

Afterwards they all went outside to watch the tree lights switched on in Market Square. And Christmas is really here again.
