Report on outdoor gym motion

The suitability of a site for an outdoor gym at Kilcullen Community Centre would have to be assessed before any further consideration of such a facility, Cllr Rob Power was told at today's meeting of the Naas Municipal District, writes Brian Byrne.

KCC's Senior Executive Parks Superintendent Simon Wallace also said that the landowners would have to be willing to allow the land be used for this purpose and would be need to be prepared to lease the site to Kildare County Council. His comments came in response to a motion from Cllr Power that an outdoor gym be provided at the Community Centre campus, in response to 'considerable local interest'.

Mr Wallace also noted that, in addition, allocating staff and finance to progress this proposal within the 2015 Parks Section Works Programme will have to be considered once the extent of amenity and recreation projects being requested by the different Municipal Area Committees are finalised and the budgets to provide them are available. He said it may not be feasible to progress all the projects being requested.
