Bishop Pat Storey visits CPC

Students at Cross & Passion College received an insight into the life journey of the Church of Ireland's first woman bishop when the Most Reverend Pat Storey visited the College, writes Brian Byrne.

Reverend Storey was appointed Bishop of Meath and Kildare in the Church of Ireland (Anglican) in September of last year, when she also became the first woman Anglican bishop in Ireland and Britain.

Born in Belfast, she studied for and achieved her BA degree at Trinity College Dublin and during that time became interested in the Church. She trained for the ministry at the Church of Ireland Theological College in Churchtown, Dublin and was ordained into the Church of Ireland as deacon in 1997 and priest in 1998. In 2004, she was appointed Rector of St Augustine's Church in Londonderry, where she served until she was appointed by House of Bishops to succeed Richard Clarke in her present position.

After speaking to the students of CPC she met staff, and concluded her visit with a short service for other students in the CPC Sacred Space facility. She is pictured above with Ciara Langan and Shannon Nelson.
