Kilomarathon day in Moone, September 27, is looming, so get your entry in, writes Sean Cleary.

Special Offers end at midnight on the Wednesday before and Tony Donoghue will be burning the midnight oil because if you are a Group, Club or Four or more Friends who walk, jog, run or wheelchair together, you can phone Tony on 0872645882 and qualify for the Group Discount Rate.

This applies to both the Kilomarathon which starts at 11am and the 10K that starts at 11.30.

It's all in aid of children — profits from these events go to Barrettstown Fun Camp for seriously ill children, Moone National School and Crumlin Childrens' Hospital Medical Equipment Fund.

Special appreciation must also go to the main sponsor, Horan's of Castledermot, serving the public through their Mace and Maxol franchises, and a host of private and commercial contributors who sponsored Kilometre signs and the various services so important to making the Moone Kilomarathon one of the most sociable events on the Jog, Run and Walk calendar.

As an extra attraction to this year's Kilomarathon, South Kildare Active Retired are running a cake sale to boost outing funds. Margaret O'Brien is the brain behind this venture and she is asking 'friends and foes' alike to bring a cake/buy a cake on the day.

Profits will be used wisely on educational, health and fitness and social events for our elder citizens in the South Kildare villages and area.
