Don't forget 'Relay for Life' this weekend
There's been a very good response to the Kilcullen effort for this coming weekend's Relay for Life, organised by Sabina Reddy and friends, writes Brian Byrne.
Following last Friday's meeting, Sabina says there are 'a good few on board', and that the Kilcullen Scouts are also rowing in by providing and erecting a tent on the site at the Curragh Racecourse.
Kilcullen GAA girls are also helping, joining others in baking for the Cake Sale which will feature at the Kilcullen Team's location.
The sale of Candles of Hope at the recent River Festival was also very successful, and gave a good awareness of the upcoming event, which is in aid of the Irish Cancer Society.
Sabina has issued an invitation to all local people to come along during the Relay to visit and contribute. The event will involve a continuous 24-hour relay walk around a set course at the location, to fundraise and also raise awareness of cancer.
The Relay kicks off at 5pm on the evening of September 6, with the first walkers being cancer survivors.
At dusk on the opening night, 'Candles of Hope' will be lit and placed around the Relay circuit. There will also be music, and a carnival atmosphere through the event.
