Big weekend ahead for Kilcullen GAA
There is a big weekend ahead for Kilcullen GAA both on and off the field this weekend, writes Aidan Gleeson.
This Sunday (Sept 14th), we hold our inaugural Kilcullen GAA Family Fun Cycle. Registration is at 2.30pm at The Stray Inn (Markeys). There are 5km, 10km or 20km cycles. There will be refreshments and music afterwards. The cost is €5 for children, €10 for adults or €25 for families. For more information please contact Albert Keenan (087-2168045) or Jacinta Sully (087-6698028).
On the field, there are two huge games this weekend. On Friday night, our Senior Mens team face Castlemitchell in a Junior A Championship Semi-Final. This game is at 8.15pm in Hawkfield, Newbridge. On route to the semi-final, the lads had an excellent first round win over Rheban, before suffering a heavy defeat to Straffan. However, they bounced back from that to record convinicing wins over Milltown and Cappagh.
On Saturday morning at 10.30am in St Conleth's Park, Newbridge, our Boys Under 16s face Sallins in a championship final. The young Rags are an excellent side who came back from a first round defeat to Monasterevin to record excellent wins over Athy, Balyna, Round Towers and Celbridge to qualify for the final.
So get out and support your local GAA club, whether by supporting either of our sides in their big games or by participating in the family fun cycle on Sunday, or go to all three! Cill Chuillinn AbĂș!
