Application deadline for Tri-Kilcullen event

Individuals and teams interested in taking part in the first Kilcullen Triathlon must have their application forms in by 20 August, writes Brian Byrne.

The event on 23 August kicks off the Kilcullen River Festival, and involves a swim from the Canoe Club, a 10k cycle, and a 2k run. Entry is €20.

The organisers intend that the event will become an annual one. The individual triathlon will begin at 7pm, the team event at 7.15pm, with registration from 6pm.

The rules of the competition require participants to be responsible for their own fitness and health and ability to participate.

Contestants will not be allowed participate in the bicycle discipline without wearing a reliable cycling helmet, and they will be responsible for all of their own equipment.

Minors under 18 must have signed permission of parents or guardians before being allowed to take part.
