Peter plays in Manley Hopkins mass
Kilcullen organist Peter Moloney will play at a special mass in Newbridge College Chapel at 10.30 next Sunday morning, as part of the Gerard Manley Hopkins Society 27th International Festival, writes Brian Byrne.
Also on the programme will be soprano Lorraine Nolan, and trumpeter Vincent Lambden. The music performed is by Purcell, Schubert, Wesley, Elgar and Vaughan Williams.
The mass will be celebrated by Bishop Denis Nulty of the Kildare & Leighlin Diocese. A pre-mass organ recital begins at 10.10am, with music by Thalben-Ball, Boelmann, and Franck.
All are welcome. The Gerard Manley Hopkins Festival begins on Saturday 16 July and goes on until Friday 25 July. It is based in Newbridge College and there will be field visits to NUI Maynooth and the Bog of Allen, as well as lectures, music and poetry in a number of local venues.
