Kilcullen businessman and kidney transplant recipient James Nolan will be one of 34 men and women who will compete in the eighth European Transplant & Dialysis Sports Championships next month, writes Brian Byrne.
The event is being held in Krakow, Poland, from 16-23 August, and Team Ireland is represented by 29 transplant recipients (five liver, 22 kidney, one combined kidney/pancreas, one bone marrow) as well as five people who are receiving dialysis treatment. They range in age from 16 to 76, and there are nine women in the group.
They were recently given a motivational talk by Dublin Senior Football Manager Jim Gavin, who is pictured above (left) with Andrew Duncan (Tipperary), Deirdre Faul (Dublin), Robbie Lyons (Laois), John McAlleer (Antrim) and James Nolan (Kildare).
