Navigation signboard mooted for estate

Problems of navigation within the Cnoc na Greine estates were discussed at the recent meeting of Kilcullen Community Action, writes Brian Byrne.

It came out of a discussion on the Draft Local Area Plan, and how planners were requiring high density occupation in future developments. This triggered concerns about the facility for emergency vehicles to navigate in dense developments.

Cnoc na Greine was cited as an example of where this can be an issue, because provision for parking cars was limited, and many cars were parked halfway on footpaths.

Ray de Courcy said the residents of Cnoc na Greine Woods had raised money to provide a signboard map of the estates, to help emergency services to find their way to incidents.

He said that ambulances can generally make their way through the winding roads, and that fire services would move blocking vehicles out of the way if responding to an emergency.
