Lots of summer stuff for youngsters
With the sun promised to shine for the next few days at least, it might be a good time for parents to look further down the summer road to see what's available to keep the young ones occupied, writes Brian Byrne.
Kicking things off, literally, there's the Soccer Skills Academy beginning Monday June 30 and running through to Friday July 4. Lots of interest there for the sports-minded.
The first of a big number of arts related weeks steps out on Monday July 7 with the choice from the Art Camp in the Community Centre or the Summer Stage Drama Camp in the Tennis Club. The Summer Stage concludes on the Friday, while the Art Camp has another week from Monday July 14.
On that Monday too, the Funtastic Drama Workshop begins its first weeklong session in Scoil Bhride, while the Baptist Bible Summer Camp also gets going in Brannockstown. Both of those finish on Friday 18 July.
There's aother Art Camp beginning Monday 21 July in the Community Centre, finishing on Friday 25 July.
The next summer camp we have knowledge of is the Musical Theatre Workshop in CPC, from Monday 11 August and running through until the Friday. At the same time there's the second of the Funtastic Drama Workshops in Scoil Bhride.
Monday 18 August brings back the Soccer Skills Academy at the all-weather pitch, while a new venture and something different is the Detective Academy in the Community Centre, running through to the Thursday.
Which about sums up all we have. There are lots of choices, something, as it were, for everyone. Every youngster anyhow ...
