Showing the road to a healthier lifestyle
A seminar on healthy living and nutrition by local expert Gavin Coyne next Monday should be of interest to anybody looking to enjoy the brightening summer more, writes Brian Byrne.
The event in the Community Centre is scheduled for 7.15pm on the 19th and will include advice on how to safely detox, building better meals, portion management, Super Foods, and how to loss weight and still have a social life.
It's the first of a number of such events Gavin plans on running in the town to help impact people's health and lives in a positive manner.
Gavin was born in Kilcullen 27 years ago and after his education in Scoil Bride and CPC he went on to study Business and Sports Management in DIT. He has worked for six years as a Personal Trainer and coach in Newbridge, before spending the last 12 months in Dublin working along side the coaches of the Irish Strength Institute.
He has had spells as a head coach for Leinster Ladies Hockey teams and was selected as an up and coming trainer to attend a Fitness and Marketing Convention in the US last February. By August he will be opening the doors on a brand new training facility in Newbridge.
Currently he's working with the students of CPC to help raise awareness of the importance for health and training, along with writing monthly articles for The Bridge magazine.
"The reason why I have such a big focus on Kilcullen is that I'm hoping to give something back to the town where I grew up and make it as healthy and prosperous a place as it can be," he says.
