New chairman for KCA

Niall McDonnell has been elected as the new chair of Kilcullen Community Action, writes Brian Byrne. He succeeds Esther Kiely who has held the position for the last two years.

At this morning's meeting or the organisation, details of the Summer Flowers project were discussed. One of the basket holders on the bridge needs to be repaired, and tubs around the town are to be freshened up before planting.

A proposal to develop the convent grounds behind the railings is to be discussed with the school authorities, and KCA will support the proposal in whatever way is possible.

A meeting with elected councillors in relation to the Draft Local Area Plan will be arranged in the next two weeks. All candidates who attended the recent Town Meeting in advance of the election agreed that they would come to Kilcullen to meet KCA and other interested groups and individuals before they voted on the plan.

New locks are to be provided by Kildare County Council for the playground, and the grass will be cut and chippings under the zip wire will be raked.
