Henry Shefflin presents Sports Awards at CPC

Awards Day at Cross and Passion College took place on Wednesday last, writes Noel Clare. The students were delighted to welcome Kilkenny hurling legend Henry Shefflin, who addressed them before presenting the sports awards.

Henry, who works for Bank of Ireland was invited to come to the school by the local branch of Bank of Ireland and local bank staff member Tom Shaw accompanied him on his visit to the school.

Henry told students how in his earlier days he spent much time 'on the bench'. He had to work hard to get his place on the team. 'Not everyone is a natural, and for most people it is hard work and effort that gets results', he told the students. 'This applies as much to studying for Leaving Cert as it does on the sporting field.' Another piece of advice which he took from the sporting field was 'not to panic as this can lead to mistakes'.
