Badminton Club update

There are six matches to report on this week and our first report takes us to Old Bawn where Dave and his Mix 2 team took on the table toppers in a Division 3 DDL clash, writes Enda O'Neill, PRO of Kilcullen Badminton Club.

Unfortunately it wasn’t to be the team’s night and they lost 3-1. Hard luck to Dave and the team.

Mix 1 visited Old Bawn on Wednesday 26 March and again KBC were on the receiving end of a heavy defeat losing 4-0. Old Bawn is not a good place to travel to, hard luck to Lynsey and her team.

Ladies 2 were at home to Rolestown on Thursday 27 March in their DDL match. Anna Marie and her team were defeated in a close match with the 4-0 score not reflecting the true closeness of the match, hard luck to Anna Marie and crew.

KBC hosted two home matches on Friday 28 March with Men 1 and Men 3 playing in their respective DDL matches. Firstly to Dave and Men 1 hosting Boyne, Dave and his team needed a win to progress to the Quarter Finals and they did so in style, beating Boyne 4-0. Well done to Dave, Gareth, Darren and Alastor who subbed for the team. Good luck to the lads in the quarters.

Vincent’s Men 3 hosted Roundwood and also needed a win to have a chance of making the Quarter Finals. Men 3 beat their Roundwood counterparts with an impressive 4-0 victory. Vincent now has to wait on the other results to see if he has progressed, so best of luck to the lads — hope those other results go your way.

Finally a big congratulations to Olivier and Mix 4 who made it to the Final of the Southwest Knockout Cup. Mix 4 played Ballinbranna at home on Thursday 27 March and won comprehensively 6-2 in a great match. Well done to Olivia, Kasi, Colin, Dave, Meave, Tara, Nicole and Denise and good luck in your Final against our local rivals St Laurences next Wednesday, 9 April in Carlow.
