Cardiac screening offer in CPC

Cross and Passion College is offering parents the opportunity to allow their son or daughter undergo cardiac screening in the school, writes Noel Clare.

Doctors from Cork based company Heartaid will visit the school on Monday March 10 to carry out the testing. Cardiac Screening is part of an initiative aimed at reducing the incidents of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) in Ireland.

Currently approximately two adults under the age of 35 die each week in Ireland from SADS and research has shown that screening can significantly reduce the incidents of SADS.

The cost of the screening is €65. It is free to those with Laya Health Cover and other Health Insurers offer discounts, depending on level of cover.

Other family members are also welcome to avail of the screening. Application forms have been sent home with students and are also available on the school website (www.cpckilcullen.com). The forms must be returned by Tuesday March 4.
