Kildare County Council has warned that the level of rainfall forecast may result in flooding in some vulnerable areas. Home and business owners within flood risk areas are advised to take appropriate precautions and continue to be prepared.
Generally, the public should avoid flooded areas and walkways close to watercourses.
Given the weather conditions that have prevailed in recent days people are asked to check on elderly and vulnerable neighbours who may need assistance.
Kildare County Council crews have now dealt with issues arising from Wednesday evening’s storm. However, motorists and pedestrians should continue to be vigilant as trees and branches may be unstable as a result of the high winds and significant rainfall over recent weeks. Further winds could result in fallen trees, branches and debris on roads, so care will be needed, particularly after dark, should bad weather conditions be experienced this evening and tonight.
The Council’s Crisis Management Team met this afternoon and will continue to monitor the situation over the coming days.
