Walk training gathering pace

A happy gang getting ready to set out set for their training night from the Community Centre, for the 5k Walk/Run in aid of Halverstown NS and St Anne's Special School on the Curragh, writes Brian Byrne.

It's now the second week of training and there's growing interest from women in the area. Paul Singleton makes sure that there are proper warm-up exercises, and a good pace is set. "You find quickly that there's no time for yapping," one of those there from the beginning told a pair of newcomers tonight with a laugh.

The actual event is set for March 23, with a route beginning at the Parish Centre to the crossroads, then south to the Old Carlow Road, winding back down to Mile Mill and then back in to Kilcullen.

The training walks are 2.5km in length, every Tuesday and Thursday nights at 7.30pm.
