Signs for Text Alert system being considered
The Kilcullen Community Text Alert scheme is considering a Table Quiz to raise funds for signs to indicate that the area is protected by such a scheme, writes Brian Byrne.
This was one of the outcomes from the first 2014 meeting of the Steering Committee held in Brennans of Old Kilcullen.
The group will also conduct an inventory of suitable existing poles where such signs might be placed.
A rota is also to be made up within the scheme for 'holders' of the phone used to contact people in the area about suspicious situations and movements.
As reported earlier on the Diary, the meeting emphasised that individuals reporting suspicious incidents should do so in the first instance to An Garda, who will then decide if it should be broadcast through the Text Alert system.
The Committee will also be arranging a meeting with the local Garda to firm up a definite communication process.
The Kilcullen TA scheme was inaugurated last summer.
