'Miscellany' raised €4,200

Some €4,200 was raised at the annual 'Miscellany on Sunday' held before Christmas in the Bermingham family home, with entertainment by a wide variety of older stalwarts and some very lively young people, writes Brian Byrne.

A constant stream of friends and neighbours from all across the community came to wish each other a happy Christmas, and partake of copious quantities of mulled wine, tea and mince pies. The complex scheduling of the music, song, poetry and drama was managed with great efficiency by Nessa Dunlea and Phena Bermingham.

This year again, the event was held in aid of the work of Redemptorist Father John Bermingham in Mozambique, where he works with Fr Brian Holmes (Cork).

"John greatly appreciates the good will and interest of all who support this work," says Phena Bermingham, whose family hosted the event. "Everyone who helped in any way is included in each Mass offered at the mission. Thanks to all who attended, performed and worked at Miscellany."

Phena expressed a special 'thank you' to those who distributed leaflets, to Nolan's Butchers who kindly provided sausages, to Paul Carey who looked after mulled wine and much more and to Dowlings of Ballyshannon for all their help, and to the community, family and friends who are always so helpful and encouraging."
