Judgement Day in CPC Intel competition

Today is judgement day for the teams in CPC who have been working up their ideas for the second Intel Ideation competition held in the school, writes Brian Byrne.

Organised by the Lions clubs across Ireland in second level schools, it's a tough event for the Kilcullen students, as they reach to be the best ... it was a team from the school that won through the national finals in the inaugural event last year and got themselves to Silicon Valley in October as a reward.

On the judging panel this year is Kildare South TD Sean O Fearghaill, who has a special insight into the competition. His and Mary Clare's daughter Caoimhe was a member of last year's winning team, which came up with the idea of an iPhone case that doubles as a testing and emergency treatment system for diabetes.

On their trip to the home of digital world innovation in California the group got to meet with some of the top businesspeople in the field.

The new contenders will be chosen from teams who have been working for the last two days to come up with ideas. Judging begins at 1pm, but it will be mid-afternoon before a winning team will be selected.
