Good start to walk event training

Some 16 adults and five children turned out last night for the first training walk aimed at getting people fit for a 5k Fun Walk/Run in aid of St Joseph's NS in Halverstown and St Anne's Special School on the Curragh.

The event is scheduled for Sunday 23 March, and the group who kicked things off last night will meet again on Thursday at the Community Centre at 7.30pm. Up to the day, they hope to have training sessions every Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

The first walk was from the Centre car park up to the motorway bridge and back, preceded by a set of warm-up exercises conducted by Paul Singleton. Paul then set a nice steady pace for the first evening.

If anyone would like to join up, just turn up on the night. Donations of €2 a week (€1 a night) are collected, which go towards posters for the event. All monies collected by participants will go to the nominated causes.
