Busy afternoon at Berminghams
The usual suspects and many more turned out to the 'Miscellany on Sunday' held in the Bermingham family home yesterday afternoon, writes Brian Byrne.
Though the Diary was only there for a relatively short time, it was a period when a constant stream of friends and neighbours from all across the community came to wish each other a happy Christmas, partake of copious quantities of mulled wine, tea and mince pies, and listen to a range of entertainments provided by young and more senior stalwarts of this annual event. The complex scheduling of the music, song, poetry and drama was managed with great efficiency by Nessa Dunlea and Phena Bermingham.
This year again, the event was held in aid of the work of Redemptorist Father John Bermingham in Mozambique. The amount raised on the day was €3,400.
