Aliens and Monsters in Athy
An intriguing exhibition at Athy Museum might be a place to spend one of the cool and damp autumn mornings or afternoons that are on the way, writes Brian Byrne.
'Aliens & Monsters' features astonishing 3m high 'predator' and 'alien' sculptures entirely made from recycled junk metal
The artists use car and motorcycle parts, nuts and bolts, spark plugs, nails, screws and many different kinds of scrap metal.
It runs from 9-25 September from 10am-5pm (lunch closure 1-2pm), with an extended opening to 7.30pm on Culture Night, 20 September.
Admission is available to schools/groups at a reduced rate of €1 per student. Talks and activities around recycling can be arranged by request for school/group tours.
The Exhibition is sponsored by Brian Darcy, the Athy Chair Doctor, Fontstown.
