The passing of Paddy Maloney
It is with a sense of sadness that will be echoed right across the community that the Diary records the death of Paddy Maloney of St Brigid's Avenue.
While such sadness is to be expected, it is tempered somewhat by the fact that few men have lived such a fulfilling life, and he has left within family, community and even national organisations many legacies of memory, commitment, craftsmanship and the results of an inveterate curiosity about so many aspects of life right to the end.
His love of Kilcullen will endure in the town's legend, and the many stories which will be told and retold over the coming days will help to comfort those he has left behind.
Paddy and his wife Annie had seven children, Wally, Pat, Ann (deceased, age 5), Peter, Mary, Vincent and Bernadette. There are 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. To his extended family and all his friends we express our sincerest condolences. The house is private for the funeral, from where Paddy will be brought to the church tomorrow (Sunday) evening for arrival 7.30pm. His requiem mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11am and interment will take place afterwards in St Brigid's Cemetery.
May he rest in peace.
