Local author book launch tonight
For those of you who like a good book, and especially one written by a local author, get yourselves on to Kildare Town Library tonight for the launch of Brownstown writer Martin Malone's latest book, writes Brian Byrne.
Set in northern Iraq, The Valley of the Peacock Angel tells the story of a Kurdish village attacked by chemical weapons.
Martin got the idea while serving with the UN in the area while still a soldier. The theme is both historical and horrifyingly of today, given the reports coming out of Syria so many years later.
Things kick off at 7pm. Former journalist and current Senator John Whelan will introduce the author and the book.
