Mary presents national guide
Key guide for supported employmentKilcullen woman Mary O'Halloran recently presented a guide for employers to help them be more inclusive in terms of supported employment, writes Brian Byrne.
The guide, which was presented to more than 520 international delegates at the European Union of Supported Employment Conference in Croke Park, is the result of a pioneering partnership between Ireland’s biggest recruitment website and a supported employment agency.
The Employer’s Guide to Supported Employment was developed by IrishJobs.ie and STEP Supported Employment in association with the Irish Association of Supported Employment.
The guide has since been posted on IrishJobs.ie, a recruitment website used by 900 Irish businEers each month.
Mary said the guide has a number of functions. “It provides potential employers with a step-by-step guide to attract and recruit people with disabilities. It also provides employers with a guide to manage and retain people with disabilities."
The guide also supports an increase in the number of people with disabilities into employment and helps employers make ‘well-informed decisions’. “There are tips and real life situations presented to support the user to become better informed."
