We've built a Google+ patio on the Diary
Join in the chatOver the more than eight years of the Diary's existence, we haven't used it much for to and fro comment or debate, writes Brian Byrne.
That was deliberate, as it was conceived and developed to be a news and features operation. One which in the month just passed achieved its highest page views ever of over 39,000. (Will we top 40,000 this month? Well, we'll see ... it's really not important one way or another.)
Facebook and Twitter are there, of course. But the Diary has only used those platforms for spreading links to stories, and we haven't used them for discussion.
Well, now we have set up a place where this can be done. It's another Kilcullen Diary, this time a community page on Google+. A platform for readers to have their say on anything to do with Kilcullen.
It's something of an experiment. But so was the Diary all those years ago. It worked, so the Google+ 'patio' on the blog might well too.
You can get to it here. Come on in. Say what you have on your mind. Ask questions, Give answers. Invite your friends along, the people in the organisations you belong to. Mostly, let's see how it develops, where it goes.
We've a gut feeling. It could be good.
