No money for Main Street resurfacing
€100,000 for traffic calming repairsAt the latest meeting of the Athy Area Committee, Cllr Ivan Keatley was told again that there is currently insufficient funding to carry out any further road resurfacing works in Kilcullen, writes Brian Byrne.
However he was also told that if funding becomes available the Area Office will examine the inclusion of this area in the Roads Resurfacing Programme.
It was the second month in succession that Cllr Keatley raised the matter.
Meanwhile, Kildare County Council is to spend €100,000 on repairing traffic calming ramps around the county.
This follows agreement by councillors at the April meeting to move an additional €50,000 from the €1.3m Discretionary Grant for the purpose, following a proposal by Cllr John McGinley.
Assistant Director of Services (Transportation & Public Safety) Michael O'Leary told the councillors that moving the money in this way would impact elsewhere on the Council's work, such as General Maintenance.
