Roy adds KAG to BAG

Kilcullen's music promoter extraordiaire Roy Thompson is opening a second venue to bring the finest Irish and international singer/songwriters to mid-Kildare, writes Brian Byrne.

With the Ballymore Acoustic Gigs already a highly-respected Monday nights place in the touring calendar of some of the best roots/folk/Americana performers, Roy has now teamed up with Cunninghams of Kildare Town to do something similar on Tuesday nights.

"It's a beautiful venue, upstairs in the main street pub," he says. "Our aim is to develop the venue as a listening room/club where paying patrons can enjoy the finest in live music in comfort, and artistes can perform to attentive fans of roots music."

Roy says he is currently putting together a programme of shows and will announce the first show soon. "More details soon, but spread the word, and let's get a buzz going!"
