Council meeting contractor on flood issue
Kildare County Council officials are meeting with the contractor for the Community Playground this week to see what can be done about the recently-apparent flooding problem, writes Brian Byrne.
The latest meeting of Kilcullen Community Action was told that the playground had been reopened following a request from the Council that they were 'being annoyed' by complaining phone calls about it being closed.
KCA chair Esther Kiely said the Council had made the original decision to close it after being made aware by KCA that it had become 'unfit for children to play in'.
She was responding to suggestions from JJ Warren that the facility should not have been closed, and that the 30 percent of it that was flooded should instead have been fenced off. "That way you would have had even more people complaining to the Council," he said.
Margaret O'Shea responded by noting that it would be a much worse situation if a child was seriously injured if it had been left open in the condition it was in.
