Kildare road safety campaign launched

‘Think before you drink’ was the message from students at Piper’s Hill College, Naas, as they hosted this year's annual Christmas road safety campaign with Kildare County Council and Kildare GardaĆ.

The Deputy Mayor of Kildare Mark Wall officially launched the campaign this morning from the College. Keynote speakers were KCC Road Safety Officer Declan Keogh, Garda Inspector Jim Doyle and Sonya Sheils of DrinkAware.ie.

The road safety campaign is not just restricted to drink driving. Other road safety hazards such as the use of mobile phones, driving without wearing a seatbelt and speeding are also targeted in the campaign.

The Kildare Road Safety roadshow will tour the county across the Christmas and New Year in towns and villages, promoting road safety and providing high visibility vests to vulnerable road users.
