The passing of Dermot O'Shea

It is with deep sadness that the Diary reports the death of Dermot O'Shea, of Mile Mill and the Bridge Camphill Community, Kilcullen.

Dermot, originally from Wales, was the originator and guardian of the wonderful gardens in Bridge Camphill, which not alone provide fresh vegetables for the Community and the organic Manna Shop, but also give invaluable training and skills to both residents and co-workers. The gardens are now an integral part of the recently-inaugurated Nature Trail through Bridge Camphill.

To his wife Margaret, children Dafydd, Esther and Edwin, and to all his very many friends both in Kilcullen and back home in his native Wales, we extend heartfelt condolences which will be echoed far beyond the place where Dermot made his home and his work for some 20 years. Dermot was predeceased by his son Eoin, who died as a small child.

He will be waked in the Artaban Hall in Bridge Camphill from 6pm tomorrow, Saturday, and Prayers and singing will take place there at 8pm on Sunday evening. His Requiem Mass will be celebrated in Kilcullen Parish Church at 11am Monday, and his funeral will follow to Gormanstown Cemetery.

May he rest in peace in an eternal garden.
