St Patrick's Parade progressing

Kilcullen’s Venture Scouts have made significant progress in their plans to hold a St Patrick’s Day parade, the recent meeting of Kilcullen Community Action heard.

The project is being organised as a Gathering 2013 event by the scouts, and Esther Kiely told the meeting that they needed some reassurance on insurance before going much further with the arrangements.

The meeting agreed that KCA would provide ’add-on’ cover from its own insurers if the scouts weren’t able to arrange their own, or it proved too expensive as a one-off.

The plans in train include a parade of community groups and business floats through the town, followed by music in the market square.

It will be the first time Kilcullen has had a St Patrick’s Day parade. The nearest one to the town traditionally has been the one organised in Newbridge.
