New GFG exhibition

A new exhibition in the Good Food Gallery features the work of Ruth McDonnell, Cavan born but living in Dublin.

Ruth is well known in craft circles for her artistic work with textiles. She studied at the NCAD and The Medway College of Design in Kent, then worked in RTE for many years while exhibiting widely. In 1996 she began a Fine Art Diploma in Dun Laoghaire IADT then went to DIT where she was awarded a BA in Fine Art in 2002.

She has undertaken a number of residencies. Awards include the Student Printmaking Award by the RDS, the Thomas Dammann Jr travel bursary. She also received Arts Council bursaries in 2004 and 2008. She has participated in a diverse range of selected group exhibitions and her work is featured in public and private collections.

Ruth has been painting for many years, and her work often recalls her earlier interest in textiles, with subjects that include tablecloths and other items.
