Small turnout to Grid Link evening
Only a very small number of interested people turned up to the dedicated Kilcullen Information Evening on the Grid Link project held last Wednesday, writes Brian Byrne.
But the meeting organisers said they are available through the continuing phases of the project, currently surveying possible routes for a new 400kV power line linking nodes at Cork, Waterford and Dunstown outside Kilcullen,
"The important thing is that I hope it was useful for those that did attend," says Michael Donnelly of the Grid Link team. "I would be confident that the next open day, when we have route options to show people, there will be a higher level of interest."
Mr Donnelly says the €500m project members are more than happy to talk to anyone at any stage. "This phase of consultation closes on October 22nd but that doesn’t mean we stop engaging—the information centres are open year round."
The nearest Information Centre to Kilcullen is in Carlow, though the project is actively looking for office space in this area to provide a once-a-week open office service.
Pictured at the Kilcullen evening are Kieran French, Transmission Engineer, EirGrid; John Lowry, Grid Link Project Manager; and Michael Donnelly, RPS Group.
More details on the project are available here.
The Diary will produce an update on the position later this week.
