Official opening of nature trail at Festival
The Bridge Community plans a festive opening of their 'Kilcullen Farm & Nature Trail' as part of the Kilcullen River Festival, writes Mischa Fekete.
The recent Difference Day, building a Farm & Nature trail on the grounds of the Bridge Camphill Community with over 200 volunteers, has been an amazing achievement and shows what can be done, when so many people come together for a cause. The trail which runs through the gardens of the Camphill Community and alongside the beautiful edge of the river Liffey in the middle of Kilcullen is nearly 750m in length and includes a 50 m boardwalk through the wetlands at the foot of the broken weir that many years ago spanned the river Liffey just downstream of the Bridge in Kilcullen.
The path is open to the public and includes 30 educational signs and plaques that highlight animals, plants, trees, local history and other interesting info.
The official opening will be held on Sunday the 26th of August at 2.30pm as part of the Kilcullen River Festival.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will be framed by a performance of the Camphill Bell Choir of people with special needs and volunteers at the Bridge Community. All are welcome and there will be a quiz for people of all ages about interesting facts that can be learned along the trail.
Join us in the celebrations and bring your family to discover this new amenity and resource that Camphill has made available for the people of Kilcullen.
