Lourdes fund Coffee Morning

The strong Kilcullen connection with the annual Invalids Pilgrimage to Lourdes organised by the Oblates will be highlighted on Saturday with a Coffee Morning in the Heritage Centre to raise funds for the event, writes Brian Byrne.

The pilgrimage takes place in September each year, and Miriam McDonnell of Curragh Lawns Nursing Home is the regular Nursing Director on the trip.

There's a tradition of Kilcullen people going with the pilgrimage at their own expense to work as helpers with the group in Lourdes, which also brings elderly and invalid people from the locality to the shrine.

The Coffee Morning begins at 11am, and the organisers promise coffee, cake and chat in good company. And if anyone wants to contribute their own cakes and scones to the event, they'd be very welcome.

Put Saturday morning in your diary now.
