Kilcullen to get Eirgrid meeting
A public information event is being planned for Kilcullen in September on the Grid Link project which will bring a new high voltage power line between Munster and Leinster, writes Brian Byrne.
This follows a request from Kilcullen Community Action last May, following what was to have been the last such information meeting in the mid-Kildare area, noting that as far as was known, no organisation in Kilcullen was invited to that event.
The €500m project involves the construction of a new high voltage power line linking Leinster and Munster. As it will likely end in Dunstown, Carnalway, a significant element of the line and its associated pylons will be on property close to Kilcullen.
Although the public information module was to have ended in June, a representative of Eirgrid made contact with KCA recently with a view to providing concerned Kilcullen people with their own meeting.
The actual date and venue are yet to be decided.
