Canoe Club update
On the water training continues every weeknight at Kilcullen Canoe Club from 7pm, writes Maria Wilmot. Activities on offer include 'Newbie' nights (Mondays and Tuesdays), Polo (Thursdays) and Slalom.
Congratulations to all Kilcullen Canoe Club paddlers who competed in recent events. Podium placings include Lakelands on the 4th August – Liam Keogh and Michael O’Farrell, 2nd in short course K2 / T2; Pat Brereton and Paddy Fitzgerald, 1st and 2nd in men’s GP respectively; Mary Fitzgerald, 1st in women’s GP; Tori Keogh, 1st in girl’s GP u16; Aaron Thorpe, 1st in novices. Thomastown on the 12th August – Lar O’Brien, 3rd in K1 Div 4; Paddy Fitzgerald, 3rd in men’s GP; Mary Fitzgerald, 1st in women’s GP; Lee Smith and Liam Brown, 2nd and 3rd respectively in novices.
Kilcullen Canoe Club upcoming events include 26th August – Kilcullen river festival; 9th September – Lower Liffey ranking race; 15th September – Galway ranking race.
