Burglary, thefts top Kilcullen crime
A total of 161 offences were reported by Kilcullen Garda Station in 2011, writes Brian Byrne.
That put the town 15th in a table of 18 commmunities in Kildare with garda stations, with Ballymore reporting the least number at 61 and Naas the most at 1,907. The figure represents a 38 percent improvement over 2010.
Burglary and related offences topped the list of issues in Kilcullen, with 51 instances reported. This was followed by theft or related offences with 42. Damage to property and the environment came next with 32 reports.
Attempts or threats to murder or assault and harrassments numbered nine, while there were seven controlled drug offences reported. Seven dangerous or negligent acts were on the list, and there were three incidents of fraud, deception and related offences.
Three reports of weapons and explosives offences were made, public order or other social code offences numbered five, and there were two reports of robbery, extortion or hijacking offences.
