Lots to kick off the weekend
If you want to kick off the Bank Holiday weekend with some fun, there's lots of choice this evening, writes Brian Byrne.
Possibly the event that will attract the widest range of followers is the Strictly Come Dancing contest organised by Kilcullen Lions and the GAA Club, which steps out in Tougher's from 8pm. Music, dance-floor skill, and probably no shortage of laughs too.
Meantime, Kilcullen Canoe Club is holding its annual Race Night fundraiser. Not on the river, but in Fallons from 8.30pm. For one night only, no danger of tipping over into the water.
And then there's the Shave Or Dye in Bardons tonight for the Irish Cancer Society. All up for the Chop or Dye are Paddy O'Rourke, Niall Madden, Paul Barrett, Mark Kenny, Conor Doyle, Shay O'Mahony and Daragh Bourke. Music with James Morrin, shaving off at 10pm.
Between them all, there's a tired town guaranteed for tomorrow morning. But through the weekend, don't forget to put in your vote for the Brannoxtown NS project in the Lidl Fit Factor Challenge. Click on the Kitchen World ad on these pages to get through to the voting panel. There's €5,000 worth of sports equipment up for grabs.
